It has been amazing to see God working through our church throughout the COVID19 pandemic. So often we mistake the church for a building … now, more than ever, it’s evident that the PEOPLE are really the church!

We’ve all had to make adjustments—major adjustments—to how we live, work, study, play and worship. Now that the “Stay at Home” order has been lifted, and some activities are beginning to resume, there are naturally questions about what that means for us as a church family.

The first thing to know is that everyone’s safety is top of mind as we make plans for what’s next at Rincon First Christian Church. Church is family. Family in mind explains why we have delayed in reopening. It was not only for safety reasons; but, also for the opportunity to collectively gather without limiting anyone who desires to participate.  As of today, the vulnerable population, and those over 65 years old will no longer have “Stay at Home” orders in effect after June 12th. While we haven’t missed opportunities to worship and connect digitally, we have missed gathering as a family in person. We’re looking forward to the day we can do that again; and, we are planning on that being Sunday, June 14th. Our goal is to provide excellent worship, teaching, and Kids Worship experiences that are safe for everyone.

The health and safety of our congregation is a priority for us in all decisions made. For this reason, we have laid out guidelines below that we believe are necessary to be followed based on the information given to us by state government and health officials. For the time being, we will only resume Sunday morning 10:30am Worship Services. These guidelines will be amended as needed moving forward.

Thank you for following these guidelines for your safety as well as the safety of others!

Important: The building will open at 10:00am. Only volunteers serving Sunday morning will be permitted inside before that time.

Masks: Face masks will not be required but we welcome anyone who would prefer to wear one. Please come prepared with your own mask.

Social Distancing: Individuals should observe social distancing at all times—which entails maintaining a minimum of 6-foot distance from others. We ask you to do this as a courtesy and out of respect to those around you.

Do not hug, shake hands, or partake in any other form of close contact.

With social distancing in mind, avoid congregating in groups.

Cleanliness and Hygiene: All staff and volunteers will be screened for symptoms prior to serving Sunday according to the COVID19Screening Guidelines. Staff and volunteers should take their temperature before they arrive in order to self report. Normal temperature should not exceed 100.4˚ Fahrenheit. If you are sick, please do not come to church. Join us for church online. Our housekeeping department will disinfect all surfaces before and after every service. Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the facility.

Kids and Students: Jr. Kids Worship and Kids Worship will resume June 14th. Things will look a little different. First, if you have a preschool through 5th grader and want them to join you in worship that will be welcomed for now. If you want them to take part in teaching tailored specifically for them we would like you to use the Fellowship Hall door to enter. Signage will be there to remind you. Check-ins and Sign-outs will be done by a screened volunteer. Students will gather in age     specific classes with groups no larger than fifteen.

Nursery: The nursery will be available to anyone with a child under the age of three. A screened worker will be available. If you desire to keep your baby with you that will be welcomed for now. We  ask that no one enters the nursery except those under 3 years of age and those screened nursery workers. A changing table is available in the Women’s Restroom if needed.

Entrances: The main doors to the building will be propped opened for contact-free entry at 10:00am. Individuals will be asked to move directly to and from the main entrance and sanctuary with no congregating in the lobby. Staff will be monitoring to encourage safe social distancing at all times. Water fountains will not be available for us.

Restrooms: To allow for appropriate social distancing, a maximum of 2 individuals will be permitted in each restroom at one time.

Sanctuary and Seating: Please sit 6-feet away from non-family members in the sanctuary.

To allow for appropriate social distancing there will be blockades limiting seating in place in the sanctuary.

We will not exceed 50% seating capacity in the sanctuary to allow for proper distancing.

Overflow seating will be available in the Fellowship Hall as needed.

Ushers will assist with the seating process from a distance.

Service: The Worship Team will be limited and will be spaced out accordingly.

Communion is a central piece of our Sunday morning gatherings and will continue to be; but communion trays will not be passed. Communion stations will be set up around the Sanctuary. Every baptized believer will be invited to participate in Communion at one of these stations during the service. We ask you to practice social distancing while in line to get Communion and while returning to your seat.

We will not pass offering plates. Offering will take place at the end of the service and individuals will be able to give contact-free by dropping envelopes in containers in the back of the sanctuary and lobby. Offering envelopes will be available in the pew backs.

Guests will be encouraged to complete a digital connect card  here or to complete a Connect Card and drop it in the offering containers as they leave.

Exiting: Service will be dismissed by section and individuals will be directed how to exit the building to allow proper distancing. Individuals will be encouraged to exit the building promptly. Ushers will assist with the exiting process from a distance.
